Important ACT Preparation Information

Here's what you need to know about ACT preparation at RHS.

Ralston High School families:

We want to share more information about our ACT assessment preparations that will begin in a few weeks.  This post includes information that will affect all students at Ralston High School, so we ask you to read through.

Beginning January 29th, all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will engage in assessment-related preparation three days each week.  For these students, the school day will begin and end at its regular time.

  • Juniors will work through a variety of sessions with teachers trained in the POINTS Test Preparation method.

  • Freshmen and Sophomores will work on tailored reading and math activities, which are critically important for future success on the ACT as Juniors.

For Seniors, the school day will begin at 9:15 a.m. on assessment preparation days.  These mornings are an excellent time for students to arrange job shadows, complete scholarship applications, or complete community service hours.  If transportation is a concern, Seniors are welcome to arrive at their normal time, where we will have a supervised study hall until 9:15 a.m.

The following days and dates will follow the modified schedule at Ralston High School:

  • Jan 29, 30, Feb 1 (Mon/Tue/Thu)

  • Feb 5, 6, 8 (Mon/Tue/Thu)

  • Feb 20 22, 23: (NOTE: Tues/Thur/Fri)

  • Feb 26, 27, Mar 1 (Mon/Tue/Thu)

  • Mar 5, 6, 8 (Mon/Tue/Thu)

  • Mar 19, 20, 22 (Mon/Tue/Thu)

  • Mar 26, 27, 28 (NOTE: Mon/Tue/Wed) Practice Test: Regular bell schedule.

On Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018, all Juniors will complete the ACT assessment during school hours, at no cost to families.  Freshmen, Sophomores, and Seniors will not report to school this day.  It is intended for a job shadow, a college visit, scholarship applications, or community service.  We hope, by sharing this information now, your family has sufficient time to identify and arrange the opportunity that best meets your student’s needs.  Our Counseling team at RHS can help identify opportunities if your family would like ideas.

We sincerely appreciate your partnership in helping students understand the importance of college and/or career readiness, and how the ACT could play an important role in the process.
