Congratulations to the RHS Ram Pride Band for receiving an Excellent Rating at the LINKS Marching Band Competition this past Saturday! Way to go Ram Pride Band!
It's a Silent Reading Party: the most Anti-Social of Social Events. Recently around the country, Silent Reading Parties have become a thing. So where else to hold one, but in our own comfy Library! Students and staff: this Monday from 3:30-4:15, just show up, bring your reading material or check out ours, and bask in the luxury of 45 minutes of reading quietly. Snacks will be provided.
We will be presenting Flash Fiction: Stories under 2,000 words. Seems easy enough, right?
Actually, there’s a lot more to flash fiction than one might initially realize. Writing these short shorts can be incredibly rewarding. Distilling experience into a few pages or, in some cases a few paragraphs, forces writers to pay close attention to every loaded conversation, every cruel action, every tender gesture, and every last syllable in every single word. Join us in A103 on Tuesday after school to share our flash fiction!
Teen Read Week is celebrated October 9-15, but we are celebrating all through the month of October in the Ralston High School Library Media Center.
Since the theme for TRW is "Read for the Fun of It," we are inviting students to do just that. Sign up at the circulation desk to read ONE book during the month of October. That's it, just one book. It can't be a book you are assigned for class, but a book that you are going to read "for the fun of it."
Once you've completed that book, your name will go in the drawing to win one of four prizes: Seniors can win a $20 gas card, Juniors can win a pair of movie tickets, Sophomores can win a $20 Target gift card, and Freshmen can win a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card.
Sign up today!
Jack Martin Photography will be here on Wednesday, October 26 for re-takes and/or make-up photos. They'll be here during 3rd period lunches. Order forms are available online under the Document section at the RHS web page.
Mark your calendar for Sweet Treat Night sponsored by Ralston High School October 27th! The event will go from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM.
College and Career Center
Juniors and Seniors: Come sign up for a HUGE college fair. It is on Sunday, October 23rd. We will take a bus from the High School to the Sapp Fieldhouse at UNO. Seriously, over one hundred colleges from all over the country will be there! Sign up in the College/Career Center.
College and Career Speakers coming up during homeroom are:
Today Metro Community College
10/11 Concordia (Seward - 30 miles past Lincoln)
10/11 Air force during lunch
Sign up in the College/Career Center if you want to hear the speakers.
Campus Visits: If you would like to visit a campus, you will need to get a
Permission form completed and returned to the College/Career center one week before the visit. We will gather in Lecture Room C the morning of the visit for a light breakfast to look at the schedule for the day.
11/10 Doane and Nebraska Wesleyan
