RHS Readers Book Club will meet this Friday, November 7th during all three lunch periods. Our theme for this meeting is Diversity. Bring a book to share in which you saw yourself in the pages. F.A.I.R. and G.S.A. members are particularly invited to join in this discussion. For further information visit weneeddiversebooks.org.
Too busy to join another club? How about belonging to the RHS Online Book Club? No meetings; just read the book and discuss the book with others in our building (staff and students) via email. Our November selection is I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. Ms. Olsen has 20 copies to loan. Stop by and pick one up.
Attention Key Club Members. There will be no Key Club meeting this Thursday. We will meet next Thursday after school.
DECA members there is a meeting tonight Wed., Nov 5 at 6:30 in Room A120. Those that are interested in becoming an officer need to plan to be there and present 2-3 minutes on why you would be a good leader. All brochure fundraising orders and money are due immediately. Please turn in unsold Savings Sidekicks there are others who want to sell them. Please read your email.
Student council will meet today at 3:25 in room C-107 (off the Library) to discuss a possible fundraiser, decide what the next homeroom competition will be, and discuss plans for the future of student council based on the conversations from RCC student council. Any Ralston High School student is allowed to attend and provide feedback and insight.
Seniors, it is time to check your name for your diploma. See Mrs. Startzer in the office to make sure that your name is spelled correctly.
RHS Yoga Club is making "yoga-selfie" posters to promote balance and health at RHS. Come try a challenge pose, print it off, then decorate your poster! Thursday, November 12 from 3:30-4:00p in A109 with Ms. Oglesby.
Got some old books laying around? Round them all up and donate them to the book drive to help support the Latino Center of the Midlands! The homeroom with the most collected books during this time period will get to choose from a pizza party or donuts and juice. You can donate them to your designated homeroom box from November 4th-21st to support and help win for your homeroom.
Junior Audits will begin next Monday and run throughout the week. Please check with your homeroom teacher for your time/day, as we have carefully planned a time that is convenient for you. We will also have the schedules posted on the counseling office window by counselor and alphabet.
What is a Junior Audit?
We will discuss your future plans, senior year classes, credits, community service, scholarship possibilities, career aspirations and ACT testing. It is mandatory, and if you miss your appointment, we will call you out of class to make it up. We get to spend 20 minutes talking about YOU...nothing better than that!
Attention RHS! The Louder Than A Bomb Slam Poetry team is now forming! There will be an introductory meeting in B207 on Wednesday, November 5th at 3:30. If you cannot make it but want to participate, please contact Mr. Lacey. There will be no FCA meeting this Thursday, it's your last chance to sign up for "Weekend of Champions" in Grand Island this Saturday and Sunday! Please see Coach Behrens for questions!
Become a Student Athletic Trainer! Be involved in RHS athletics, earn service hours, learn about a medical profession, have fun, and meet new people. Must be able to commit to working a regular schedule. Options for after school, evening, and events only commitments are available. Duties will include basic taping and wound care, practice/event preparation, and attending RHS practices and events as scheduled.
If interested email Co Schneider at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Friday November 7th. In your email, please include why you are interested in this opportunity, what type of schedule you are interested in (afternoon, evening, or events only), and any schedule conflicts you might have.
Those students selected to participate during the winter season will be notified by Monday November 10th. Orientation and training meeting will be held Wednesday November 12th after school starting at 3:30 for 1-1.5 hours.
Seniors: Both the Ralston Chamber of Commerce and Marlene Hansen scholarship applications are due to Mrs. Balus no later than 1:00 today.
Seniors: Having problems filling out the transcript portion of your UNL application? An instruction handout is available in the College/Career Center.
College representative in the College/Career Center tomorrow: Nebraska Wesleyan University at 10:30.
A reminder to all students who have signed up for the career speaker: Remember to bring your admission ticket and report to the back of the Media Center tomorrow during homeroom.
The ACT December 13th test sign-up deadline is this Friday, Nov. 7th. Nov. 7 is also the fee-waiver deadline for this test.
There will be wrestling conditioning today and Thursday in the Aux gym immediately after school.
BOYS BASKETBALL - There will be a meeting on Monday Nov. 10th in Lecture Room C at 3:30pm for any boy who plans on going out for basketball this year. If you can't make the meeting and plan on going out you need to get in contact with Coach Jackson.
Girls Soccer: "Open field" this Thursday will be at 3:30pm in the stadium. Bring both cleats and tennis shoes!
