Sign ups for AP testing have started. Students have until March 24th to sign up and until April 1st to pay the fee.
The fee this year is as follows:
Free for students taking dual enrollment through UNO
$92 per exam
$53 per exam for free/reduced lunch students
Students can come down to the Counseling office to sign up anytime before the March 24th deadline.
Seniors: you must turn in and have approval for all community service hours prior to April 1st!
This is a solid deadline.
All Seniors have the opportunity to do a Job Shadow Experience on April 19th from 8:00am - 12:00pm. Your homeroom teacher has all of the information and due dates for the packet. If you do not have a homeroom teacher, talk to your counselor about the expectations and pick up your packet. A shortened class schedule will be run from 1:00pm - 3:17pm.
It's Teen Tech Week. Help the Ralston HS Library Facebook page reach 100 Likes this week. Like the page, stop in the Library, and you'll receive a special treat. Easy peasy!
It's not to late to sign up for the Ralston Girls Softball Association recreation league. This league is fun and gives you the chance to make new life long friends. Even if you have never played before but want to start something new we have a spot open just for you. Please visit rgsa.org for more information by March 15, 2016.
This week is Teen Tech Week, and to celebrate Ralston HS has been selected as one of 30 schools nationwide to participate in a teen tech workshop on coding / web-making. This workshop will be taught by the Geek Squad from Best Buy and will be held from 3:30-4:30 this Thursday, March 10 in the Ralston HS Library. It's not too late to sign up, but hurry! Plan to attend the College Fair sponsored by EducationQuest on Sunday, March 20, at UNO's Sapp Fieldhouse from 1-3 p.m. To avoid filling out numerous info cards for colleges, register for a barcode at NebraskaCollegeFairs.org. Colleges represented include Nebraska schools, as well as those from numerous states throughout the U.S. Use this unique opportunity to help you make a decision about your educational future. Students should visit http://www.nebraskacollegefairs.org to get a barcode. If you are interested in attending and need transportation, sign up with Mrs. Barker in the Counseling office by today.
Attention juniors and seniors: Here's one more chance to do a campus visit this school year. We will be going to both the Fort Omaha and South Omaha campuses of Metropolitan Community College on Thursday, March 31. You will meet in Lecture Room C at 8:00 a.m. for refreshments and instructions and board the bus at 8:30 for the Fort Omaha campus. Lunch will be provided at their Bistro. Next stop is the South Omaha campus. You will return to RHS at 3:00.
Sign up in the Counseling office with Mrs. Barker and pick up a permission form. Permission forms are due back no later than Thursday, March 24.
The Peter Kiewit Institute is now accepting applications for their Summer Academies. If you excel in math and science and have a passion for Engineering and Technology, you need to apply for this amazing opportunity. Cost = 0! Application deadline is May 1. The College of Education and Human Sciences at UNL is sponsoring a summer Chinese Language, Culture and Technology Academy from July 10-24, 2016. The Academie is open to current high school students who are interested in language learning, who will have completed 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade as of May, 2016, and who have no or very little knowledge of the Chinese language.
All expenses are covered by the program (housing, meals, iPad access, supplies).
The deadline for applications is April 15th, and the program will accept 20 student-participants. Interested students should see Mrs. Balus in the College/Career Center.
