Are you brave? Can you do what most people fear more than death? Join Speech Team! We will have our first informational meeting on Wednesday, September 10th in room B218 at 3:30. Contact Mrs. Adair for any questions. 

 
The "DECALYMPICS" social activity is this Saturday.  Stop by Mrs. Hinchcliff's room for directions.  The social begins at 4 p.m. with competition beginning at 5 p.m.  BBQ will follow the activities.  All those in a business class and interested in DECA please join us!

Those students that plan to attend the "DECALYMPICS" this Saturday, Sept. 6,  need to stop by the DECA Room A120 to get a permission form and directions to the event.  Sign up by Friday, so we can plan on numbers for the BBQ.

HEY, RALSTON SENIORS!  The Senior BBQ is on Friday, September 12 from 5:30 P.M. until game time.  You can buy your tickets from any senior class officer, Mrs. Honz in B206, or Ms. Rowley in B220.  You must buy a ticket in advance.  The cost is $2.00, but if you wear Ralston spirit gear, you get a dollar back when you attend the BBQ.  Stay for the game and watch the RAMS beat Lincoln Pius X!

Freshman & Sophomore Class officers: We will have our first meeting on Monday, September 8th. It will be right after school in room F138. Be sure to bring all of your ideas for the upcoming year to discuss!

Do you have an interest in Fashion, Design, Shopping, Sewing, Decorating, Modeling, or Beauty—anything related to Fashion?  Then come be a part of the Fashion Club here at RHS.  Our first meeting will be Wednesday September 10th in Room A107 from 3:30 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.  If you have any questions or cannot make it, contact Mrs. Krist atchristi.krist@ralstonschools.org.  
 
Online test prep through John Baylor is now available for FREE for Ralston High School students preparing for the ACT.  If you'd like access to this, please see Mrs. Athow in the Counseling Office.
 
Community Service Opportunity
Volunteers are needed to help with the local food pantry associated with Messiah Lutheran Church and Harrison Street Baptist Church.  The Food Bank for the Heartland delivers 2-3 trucks of food to the parking lot of Harrison Street Baptist Church and volunteers are needed for the following duties:  moving food by hand cart from the truck, unloading to the distribution tables, helping clients, carry food to client's car, tearing down boxes, and clean up.  This project takes place on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

We Are the Power of ONE
Be a part of the World Record for the largest Spaghetti Feed being held on Sunday, September 21st., 11-3,  at the Ralston High School.  Volunteers are needed to serve food, help carry plates, clean up.  In a project that hopes to serve 20,000 people, many volunteers are needed. All proceeds from the dinner go to the Food Bank for the Heartland.  You may go online to find out more about this project at www.wearethepowerofone.org.  Register to volunteer at that site or contact Kimberly Bailey at # 402-416-5460kdbailey@unomaha.edu

We need 16 juniors to be pals/mentors to some of our students with disabilities.  They will have lunch (usually catered pizza provided), go on outings and excursions with their buddy and also receive community service for this.  Any junior interested should see Mrs. Athow.  Students must be in good standing academically and behaviorally to be involved in the program.  

College/Career Center
College visitation in C/C Center tomorrow:  Doane College at 9:00.

Juniors & Seniors: Are you interested in visiting the campuses of Creighton University and UNO ?  You can do this for free on Tuesday, September 30.  If you are passing your classes, in good standing, without excessive absences and on track to graduate, you are eligible to go. Space is limited to the first 60 students.
Doughnuts and milk will be provided at 8:00 a.m. that day in the Media Center.  The bus will leave RHS at 8:30 a.m. and return at 2:45. In order to get on the list for this visit, you must bring your completed permission slip to  Mrs. Barker no later than Tuesday, September 23. A permission slip can be can picked up in the guidance office.

Student Opportunities:
Gallup is currently accepting applications for GET HIP, Gallup's high school internship program.  This program will focus on software development skills, while giving you an inside look at the importance of technology in the workplace and the impact it has on the business world.  You will then compete for the opportunity to attend a six-week paid summer internship at Gallup in 2015. Registrations may be completed online by clicking the following link: Gallup Intern.  Deadline is Sept. 6!

Activities/Athletics
There will be a wrestling meeting Thursday after school in the wrestling room for all wrestlers not out for a fall sport. 

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets Thursday night from 6:30-7:30 in the gym!!  Come meet more of your fellow athletes!
